Taxpayers got their wish today with our Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) holdings as the U.S. Government sold 1.5 billion of its 7.7 billion generating $6.2 billion of proceeds for taxpayers.

Major equities staged a late day comeback as the Dow Jones Ind. peaked back above 10,000.  Leading the charge was AK Steel (NYSE:AKS) moving up 12%, Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) gaining 4.65% and Citigroup (NYSE:C) as the most active stock.

Big movers like General Electric (NYSE:GE) gaining 7% and Citigroup (NYSE:C) moving up 5.5% helped the major indexes rally today after European officials approved a nearly $1 trillion rescue plan to contain the debt crisis in troubled nations and stabilize the euro.

Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) shares have been demonstrating a decent comeback after falling from the $5 mark last week.  Tuesday Citi shares hit a recent bottom of $4.35 and today they have returned to breaking past the $4.50, up 4.6% and just in time for the U.S. taxpayer to benefit.

U.S. Government Should Cash in 27% Increase in Citigroup Shares (NYSE:C)

The American Taxpayer should demand the sale of the 27% U.S. Government stake in Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C).  To bank a profit we need to sell above $3.25 a share, why not sell at today's $4.13 price which would net a 27% profit and then some --  27% Stake for a 27% Profit.
