U.S. Airways Profit Projected to Soar


The past few years have been tough on airline stocks.  However there is word on the street that US Airways Group, Inc. (NYSE:LCC) may be slated to post a record profit for Q3 this year.

US Airways (NYSE:LCC) and United (NASDAQ:UAUA) are reported to be in talks that could create the nation's second-largest carrier.  This is the third attempt in the last 10 years for the two companies to attempt a merger.

The Upgrades: Yum, Motorola and Airlines


Welcome to the end of a crazy trading day.  Hopefully you enjoyed the ups and downs of today’s market as much as we did here at The Nation.  Today was marked with some stock upgrades that seemed to help the market early on for Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM) and Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT). 

Going Long JetBlue on a Questionable Downgrade

J.P. Morgan (NYSE:JPM) went to bat for the airline industry today with stellar reviews on UAL Corporation (NASDAQ:UAUA) up 18% and US Airways Group, Inc. (NYSE:LCC) up 13% but downgraded cult favorite JetBlue (NASDAQ:JBLU) -- come on?
