Optimism for Semiconductors in 2010 (NASDAQ:INTC),(NYSE:TXN),(NASDAQ:AMAT)


A report recently released by the Semiconductor Industry Association may help lift share prices of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE:TXN) and Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT). 

Intel: Stock Price Springboard Effect


One option for a company to grow quickly is for it to be in an industry that has fast growing and changes rapidly.  Obviously the company needs to be a strong competitor to benefit in that climate, and if the stock pays a dividend to boot that is always a bonus.

AMD Shares Down 11% Despite Beating the Street and Love from Citigroup (AMD, C, INTC)


Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) shares are down 11% today trading at $8, even though the company beat the Street with its latest quarter investors aren't convinced the revenue will keep coming in 2010 forward.  However Citigroup (NYSE:C) has a more positive view on AMD and they even hiked their target price.

The Fall of Intel Corp, Really? (INTC, MRVL, QCOM)


Interesting read from Bloomberg.com today about how the increased usage of smaller devices is going to hurt Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC) since more people will be going online with smartphones, tablets, and eReaders.  Intel doesn't make chips for those devices, that game belongs to Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM), Marvel Tech (NASDAQ:MRVL), and Freescale Semiconductor.

AMD Shares Slide After-Hours


Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) shares fell 5% then finished down 3.7% after-hours to $5.96 following the company's Q3 09' earnings call.  AMD posted a net loss of $128 million, or 18 cents per share compared with a net loss of $134 million, or 22 cents per share, a year ago.
