We start small with Essa Bancorp Inc (ESSA) trading at $9.82 with a $118 million market cap.  ESSA shares have traded between $9.34 and $13.49 over the past 12 months. ESSA trades with a P/E Ratio of 21.5 and EPS of 0.46.

ESSA Bank & Trust is a full-service, community-oriented savings association. The Company provides financial services to individuals, families and businesses through its 13 full-service banking offices, located in Monroe and Northampton Counties, Pennsylvania.  ESSA is small potatoes compared with the other two bank stocks we are recommending but its vital to not overlook the community banks.

 

Bank of America (BAC) needs no introduction and its shares have finally bounced back in 2012 to the tune of 71%. Over the past 12 months BofA shares have traded between $4.92 and its 52-week high of $13.88. 

Reacall earlier this month Bank of America passed the Fed's stress test.  That gave investors confidence and pushed BofA shares over $10 on Monday (March 23rd).  Should the recovery take hold investors are going to push BAC shares higher.  We may have finally seen a bottom in BofA shares for quite some time.

Finally BBVA Banco Frances S.A. (BFR) shares have traded between $4.74 and $11.82 over the past 12 months.  BFR shares are now trading with a P/E Ratio of 5.2 and EPS of 1.16.  BBVA Banco Frances SA is an Argentina-based bank and does have its risks. BFR is engaged in the provision of financial and non-financial services, through a network of 240 retail branch offices.
