    After a contentious 14 days, workers for Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) are planning to head back to work.  Just prior to the strike, shares were trading at $35.05 at the close of business Friday August 5, 2011.  Shares then plummeted on the news of the strike, but quickly recovered a lot of the lost ground to close this last Friday, August 19, 2011 at $34.71.  That is only about a 1% during the tumultuous market conditions that has seen some pretty wide swings.

    ConAgra Foods, Inc. (NYSE:CAG) made yet another try for Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:RAH) with a $5.17 billion bid which was rejected on Friday.

    Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) shares have fallen 14% since July 22nd and are now trading back under $100.  That trend won't last forever and the stock headed higher 3.8% today to close at $94.07.

    Microvision Inc. (NASDAQ:MVIS) shares fell 6.6% today to close at a new 12 month of 98 cents. Its been a rough year for Microvision shareholders as it share price has lost almost half its value.

    McDonald's Corp. (NYSE:MCD) can do no wrong as the stock price today hits a new all-time high just under $90.  The analysts covering the company love them as does its customers, as the jingle goes "lovin' it".

    Yesterday NetFlix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) annoyed the majority of its customers with the new pricing plan that goes into effect on Sept 1st.  The company won't lose many customers, but the vast majority may only pony up for the $7.99 unlimited streaming and bag any DVD options.

    China is wrestling with an inflation problem of sorts. Prices were up 5.5% in May alone. Nationwide home property prices up more than 4% in April. And its economy grew by almost 10% in the first quarter.  The ProShares UltraSh FTSE/Xinhua China 25 (NYSE:FXP) is down 31% in the last year, where do we go from here?

    Despite today's 5% rally for Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) shares today, its stock price has fallen back to 2006 levels.  Thus the conversation for a buyout by cash rich Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) or Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) becomes plausible.
