Beat Street: AnnTaylor and D.R. Horton (NYSE: ANN), (NYSE: DHI)

AnnTaylor Stores Corp. (NYSE:ANN) has posted a Q3 EPS of $0.20, thereby beating the Street by an impressive $0.13. Their revenue was listed at $462M, which is slightly lower than Q3 2008 of $474M and down -12.3% from the previous quarter. AnnTaylor is projecting that Q4 sales will be slightly lower than Q3, likely due to slower a slower than normal holiday season. It seems investors were expecting a better surprise out of ANN as shares are down $0.51 to $13.30 in pre-market trading. (more)

D.R. Horton, Inc. (NYSE:DHI) listed their FQ4 EPS at -$0.73 and gets beat by the Street, missing by $0.43. DHI had a revenue of $1.01B, down -34.6% from the previous quarter and down only slightly from FQ4 2008 ($1.11B). It seems D.R. has a backlog of 5,628 homes, which is up from 5,297 last year. The company however reported they had a net sales of 5,008 homes, and that is up from 2008’s number of 3,977.   Shares of DHI are taking a beating pre-market, trading down $0.82 to $11.43 a share (-6.69%).
